Frommer's Review
Although relatively isolated about 2.5km (1 1/2 miles) east of the Club Med area, Moorea's best all-around resort has plenty to keep its guests busy. The beach and lagoon here aren't Moorea's best, but the resort has the widest range of watersports activities on the island -- all of them available both to guests and to nonguests who are willing to pay. A well-organized children's program also makes this the best family vacation resort in French Polynesia.
The airy central building with a shingle roof houses the hotel's reception, bar, boutiques, car-rental desk, and indoor activities area. It opens to a large pool area surrounded by an ample sun deck. In a tropical setting under a large thatch roof, a dining room opening to the pool offers lunches, light dinners, and snacks. A much larger restaurant provides extensive breakfast buffets and is used for special functions and evening entertainment. The Tahitian weekly dance show on the beach is one of Moorea's most colorful.
Most of the guest bungalows extend partially over the water from manmade islands. They are of European construction, but mat walls and rattan furnishings lend tropical ambience. They're also air-conditioned, unlike the less expensive garden bungalows. A curving two-story building holds 52 spacious hotel rooms. These all have patios or balconies facing the beach, and their combination tub-showers are a rarity on Moorea.
Facilities: Restaurant; bar; outdoor pool; tennis courts; spa; watersports equipment/rentals (free use of snorkel gear, kayaks, and canoes); bike rentals; children's programs; concierge; activities desk; car-rental desk; limited room service; babysitting; laundry service.
