InterCityHotel München ReviewThis government-rated four-star hotel was once a late-19th-century Jugendstil showplace at the southern precincts of Munich's main railway station. Blasted apart during World War II and rebuilt in a bland angular style, its modern interior retains only hints of its Art Nouveau origins. If you're a railway buff, you may be disappointed that you won't be able to watch trains arriving or departing, but that's overcome by the bedrooms that are soundproofed against noise, and are comfortable, contemporary, and suited to the needs of international travelers. As a concession to Munich's unending obsession with folklore, a few of the hotel's bedrooms have Bavarian-style rustic furnishings. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
