Hotels in Munich
Hotels in Munich are more expensive than elsewhere in Germany, and rooms are scarce (and prices higher) during Oktoberfest and when trade fairs are in town. It’s a good idea to book your Munich hotel room in advance. The highest prices in this section are for rooms during Oktoberfest and trade fairs.
Take note that breakfast is no longer routinely included in the price of every hotel room, especially at luxury hotels; if breakfast is offered, but for an additional charge, you can opt instead to have your morning repast at one of Munich’s many cafes or bakeries. Also note that, while most hotels offers some kind of parking arrangement, it can be pricey. If you are beginning a driving tour around Germany with a stop in Munich, our advice is to use Munich’s excellent public transportation system to get around the city, and wait until you leave the city to pick up your rental car.
If you arrive in the city without a room, the Fremdenverkehrsamt (tourist office) in the main train station can book a room for you; the service is free, but the tourist office collects a 10 percent deposit of the total value of the room; the hotel then deducts this amount from your bill.
