Frommer's Review
The Woodbox, located a short stroll from Main Street in the historic district, is one of Nantucket's most romantic fine-dining restaurants. Entering the restaurant, with its low-beamed ceilings and wide pine floors, transports you to the era of the whaling captains. The small dining rooms are decorated with antique tables, Oriental rugs, and bone china. As befits the setting, the food here features fancy ingredients in classic preparations. For example, appetizer choices include beef carpaccio and sautéed foie gras, and a special main course is the beef Wellington. But there are also innovative offerings like a slowly cooked crispy salmon filet with cucumber vermicelli and salmon caviar. The Woodbox is most famous for its homemade popovers, which are light and buttery treats that accompany both breakfast and dinner.
