Straight Wharf ReviewNew chef/owners, Amanda Lydon and Gabriel Frasca, have turned long-established Straight Wharf into the must-get reservation on the island. This is fine dining on the waterfront in the center of town. Make your reservation for 8pm on the outside deck so you can watch the sun set over the harbor. Straight Wharf has long been known for its creative cuisine, and also as the place where the island's top chefs hang out after their shifts. While the menu changes to reflect the best available ingredients, one special item to look for is the watermelon gazpacho, which may be the perfect chilled summer treat. Everyone loves Straight Wharf's "clambake," which includes corn pudding, littlenecks, and lobster. In fact, you can't go wrong with seafood here (or just about anything else on the menu), including the cherished smoked bluefish pâté. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
