This 1940s Art Deco motel is a bit too close to Hwy. 29 for comfort, but the awesome price and 2 1/2 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens behind the building (away from the road) help even the score. The rooms, while small and nothing fancy (think motel basic), are spotlessly clean and decorated with newer furnishings and kitchenettes; some have whirlpool bathtubs. It ain't heaven, but it is cheap for St. Helena.
