Planning a Trip

Getting There -- Narbonne has rail, bus, and highway connections with other cities on the Mediterranean coast and with Toulouse, although rail travel is the most popular way to get here. Fourteen trains per day arrive from Perpignan (trip time: 50 min.), 13 per day from Toulouse (trip time: 1 1/2 hr.), and 12 per day from Montpellier (trip time: 1 hr.). Most rail passengers arriving from Paris take the TGV directly to Narbonne (trip time: 4 hr.). The one-way fare from Paris starts from 85€, from Montpellier, 14€ to 18€. For rail information, call tel. 36-35, or visit www.voyages-sncf.com. Bus service is minimal and geared toward resident travelers. If you're driving, Narbonne is at the junction of A61 and A9, easily accessible from either Toulouse or the Riviera.

Visitor Information -- The Office de Tourisme is on place Roger-Salengro (tel. 04-68-65-15-60; fax 04-68-65-59-12; www.mairie-narbonne.fr).
