Frommer's Review
The more you look at this place, the more you'll probably like it. It's weatherbeaten and a bit battered, but completely respectable -- the kind of place where either a gaggle of hippies or members of a local church's choir might meet for a meal and some prayers. At breakfast, try ackee and salt fish or fish stewed in brown sauce and served with plantain -- a fine, thoughtfully prepared example of what most Jamaicans consider standard morning fare. If that doesn't appeal to you, consider the "hungry man breakfast," a platter piled high with eggs cooked to your liking, steak, bacon, home fries, and toast. To acclimate yourself, head past the mismatched chairs and tables of the front rooms to the pinewood bar in back, meet the staff, and have a glass of fruit punch, coffee, beer, or rum. Then select from a list of good-tasting food that includes grilled, steamed, or (our favorite) escoveitch of fish; four different preparations of chicken, including a version with curry; lasagna; or lobster.
