Loving couples are welcomed at this romantic resort, lying on 300m (1,000 ft.) of white-sand beach fronting Bloody Bay, 8km (5 miles) from the center of Negril. The formula worked in Ocho Rios, so it was repeated here. A rival of the Sandals properties, this love nest is the site of many weddings and honeymoons. On 7 hectares (18 acres) facing crescent-shaped Negril Harbour, this resort caters to those who want back-to-back scheduled activities, including volleyball, croquet, basketball, "mixology" classes, horseshoe-tossing tournaments, reggae dance classes, bocce, and more. Each of the good-size units contains a king-size bed and a CD player (bring your own tunes), plus a balcony or patio with a view of the bay or of the lush gardens. Furnishings, though standard, are comfortable, and everything is well-maintained at regular intervals, including the shower/tub combination bathrooms. The best doubles are the beachfront suites, which have Jacuzzis and hammocks. No building in the complex is higher than the tallest palm tree within the surrounding gardens. On the west side of the property, nude sunbathing is permitted within a compound that's virtually self-sufficient -- at least during daylight hours and in terms of food and beverage, sports activities, and Jacuzzis -- from the rest of the hotel.
The food is good, and you have a choice of three restaurants, including Otaheite (which was named after a species of Jamaican apple), serving a Caribbean fusion cuisine. Mediterranean and Continental menus are also served. A resident band plays nightly and there's special entertainment planned throughout the week, including Caribbean dinner buffets with music. Six separate minivan excursions (including outings devoted to golf, shopping, and a catamaran cruise) are included as part of this hotel's all-inclusive rates. In 2005, the resort added a pair of additional Jacuzzis.
