Frommer's Review
Simplicity, a sense of calm, a well-managed restaurant, and good value for the money are the hallmarks of this seafront inn whose sprawling, low-slung design is reminiscent of a Spanish hacienda. This place sits on the main beach strip on 1 hectare (3 acres) of landscaped grounds. The building's inner courtyard, with a tropical garden and a round, not-particularly large freshwater pool, opens onto one of the widest (75m/250 ft.) sandy beaches in Negril. Try for 1 of the 20 or so rooms with a view of the sea. Accommodations are generally spacious, often with hints of Jamaican character in their wicker or Jamaica-made mahogany furnishings and ceiling fans. A few of the rooms have mahogany planks covering the ceilings. Each has a private patio or balcony. Most of the efficiently outfitted bathrooms have shower/tub combinations, but some have showers only.
Le Vendôme, facing the sea and the garden, offers a sophisticated combination of upscale French and low-down Jamaican cuisine. Several times a week during high season, the hotel offers some kind of live entertainment.
