Frommer's Review
Our favorite nest in Negril lies on the western tip and has grown and evolved since its hippie era in the early 1970s. On a cliff, a 10-minute stroll from the landmark lighthouse, it is 6km (3 3/4 miles) south of the center of Negril. Hidden away from the world, the place is a little gem. Those aggressive beach vendors will never find you here, tucked behind a high wall. On 1 hectare (2 1/2 acres) of grounds, you're surrounded by tropical planting. Laze in the hammocks or sunbathe on the terraces hewn out of rock. Sleep in a rustic stone cottage covered in thatch in a four-poster draped in mosquito netting, plantation house-style. Local tiles, tropical woods, bamboo rockers, ceiling fans, and louvered windows set the tone. There's a communal kitchen where guests sometimes cook for each other. The only minor downfalls here are that the nearest beach is a 10- to 15-minute drive or a 30-minute walk, and the staff tends to be disorganized.
