Frommer's Review
In massive renovations early in the millennium, more than $3.5 million worth, this ocean-bordering resort reopened its doors late in 2003 to show a design that evokes Georgian-inspired colonial Jamaica. Spread across 2.4 hectares (6 acres) of lush landscaping, it fronts 305m (1,000 ft.) of white-sand beach that's just a bit less wide than the one in front of its counterpart at Beaches Negril, recommended immediately above. Unlike many Negril resorts, which cater to couples or adults only, this sprawling property caters to singles, couples, and, especially, families with children. The resort is positioned less than a mile from the also-recommended Beaches Negril , so as such, clients of either of the two resorts often, without charge, use the facilities of the other. Loaded with facilities to divert and amuse children, the resort is laid-back, casual, and less animated and rah-rah than its larger and more "Americanized" Beaches counterpart down the road. This one tends to attract higher percentages of Canadian and European clients who appreciate the relative calm and the decreased emphasis on nightlife options. Since meals are included, it comes as good news that the hotel employs many talented chefs to maintain restaurants that feature both Italian and Caribbean fare -- there's also a beachfront grill.
Facilities:
3 restaurants; 3 bars; 2 pools; 2 lit tennis courts; fitness center; watersports; kids activities; salon; laundry service/dry cleaning; entertainment; rooms for those w/limited mobility
