Frommer's Review
The oldest part of this yellow-and-blue wood-sided building dates from 1960: the newer parts were added by British expatriates Julian and Tracy Rigby, who had sailed around the Caribbean for a while before establishing this place within a palm grove. Today, within a roofed-over but open-to-the-breezes beachfront venue that includes lots of lattices and a sophisticated wine list, you'll find a dining room that's often completely full on the 4 nights a week that they're open. Celebrities might be discreetly in attendance, including frequent visits from Meryl Streep, who owns a private house in the nearby hills. Menu items feature a wide variety of fish that's smoked in-house according to whatever comes in fresh that week. Angus steaks, some of the best on Nevis, arrive regularly from the U.S. and are prepared any way you want them. There's also a selection of curries, beef, chicken, and vegetarian. Desserts made fresh daily include tiramisu, mocha-chocolate torte, pastries, and cheesecakes. The restaurant's name, incidentally, is a corruption of a word the Rigby's developed during their years as yachtspeople, "The Galley Pot."
