Frommer's Review
If you opt to drop into this three-tiered bar, restaurant, and nightspot, you might -- to your surprise -- recognize one of the door attendants from your hotel hanging out during his off hours. It's a three-in-one kind of spot, where most of the money is generated at the street-level sports bar (open daily from noon to midnight.) Also on site is a restaurant (open daily from 7am-11pm), with very ethnic local food priced at J$220 to J$750 (US$3.50-US$12 per platter), and an upstairs disco that's open only Friday to Sunday from 8pm till 2am. Decor throughout is beige and surprisingly drab, in a town that seems to love flashy Creole colors. If you opt to come here, please drop any residual beliefs that the staff will treat you with the same deference they'd pay you, say, during their work day in an all-inclusive hotel. But for a fast beer or two, and an insight into how the city drops all of its touristic pretenses after dark, it's a worthy choice. There's no cover charge, ever, but a Red Stripe will cost around J$85 (US$1.35).
