Marriott's Orlando World Center Review

This upscale resort caters to business and leisure travelers alike. Golf, tennis, and spa lovers will find plenty to do at the 230-acre property, as will families. The lobby's centerpiece is a 28-story tower, the decor contemporary and open with dramatic stories-high ceilings. The large, comfortable, and beautifully decorated rooms sleep four, and the higher poolside floors offer views of Disney. For a large-scale resort, it is surprisingly easy to get around, as it is not so much spread out as up. The largest of its five pools has water slides and waterfalls surrounded by plenty of space to relax among the palm trees and tropical plants. There's plenty of on-site dining, ranging from counter-service casual to gourmet cuisine; the Mikado Japanese Steakhouse headlines the hotel's four restaurants. The location, only 2 miles from the Disney parks, is a fabulous plus. Special offers (in the past, these have included getting a second room or an early booking bonus at a substantial savings) and vacation packages (often associated with area theme parks, most notably SeaWorld) are offered throughout the year, making the resort more affordable than you might think.

Facilities:
4 restaurants; food court; 2 lounges; babysitting; concierge; concierge-level rooms; golf course (nearby); health club; 3 heated outdoor pools; heated indoor pool; kids' pool; room service; sauna; spa; 8 lighted tennis courts; transportation to all theme parks for a fee; limited Wi-Fi (fee)

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
