Frommer's Review
This is the hotel of choice for movie stars, luxury tour groups, and dusty, grizzled travelers returning from a desert excursion who don't care about the expense. This sprawling kasbah-village lives up to its hefty price tag on most accounts. Rooms and townhouselike suites are spread throughout the grounds in one- and two-story villas, each with their own balcony and tiled throughout, with large bedrooms, a lounge area, and a modern bathroom with tub/shower combo. The grand lobby leads onto a public area dotted with movie memorabilia -- Caesar's throne is a popular photo prop. From here you can access three restaurants -- international, Moroccan, and a pizzeria -- as well as a separate large lounge bar with free Wi-Fi and an oversize plasma TV, and the hotel's 25m (82-ft.) pool. Beside the pool is a white-linen Bedouin tent with a shaded lounge. It's all very professional, if at times impersonal, with piped smooth jazz music and plenty of staff on hand. The restaurants, however, are overpriced, and you'd be better off walking the 15 minutes into town and enjoying both the restaurants and the livelier local atmosphere.
Tip: Ask for a discount upon arrival. Although they loathe to reduce the room price, they are usually very quick to upgrade you if the hotel is quiet.
