Frommer's Review
The combinations in this chain hotel work very well. Throughout the two-level building is a mix of traditional tabout (rammed earth) and stone architecture with funky, contemporary colors and design. The comfortable, tile rooms are a bit on the small side but have a few Moroccan touches -- Berber carpets, mosaic-tile headboards -- to accompany the modern furnishings and bathroom with a separate toilet. All rooms have a balcony, though it's shared between two and lacks any outdoor seating. The public areas are outstanding. Three lounges accompany the large and modern bar -- one with a stone fireplace; another with burgundy walls and low tables; and another with pillows and cushions strewn on the floor and a wide window affording fantastic views of the nearby kasbah -- all of which surround a good-size swimming pool. A ground-floor restaurant (Le Tazerzite) leads to a balcony with stunning views of the kasbah and the usually dry Oued Ouarzazate; I recommend the buffet breakfast. Along with the Ibis Moussafir hotel , its sister property next door, the Mercure is close to the kasbah but a good 25-minute walk from the city center; a solitary computer providing free Internet access in the lobby can save a trip into town.
