Frommer's Review
Atop a cliff 8km (5 miles) from Petra, Taybet Zaman is the most charming and unusual hostelry in Jordan. Rustic buildings of a 19th-century village have been renovated and decorated in a Bedouin-style chic that could easily grace the pages of Architectural Digest; the village lanes are now passageways for the hotel. The older rooms, created from village buildings, are each different and most interesting. A newer section offers rooms with sweeping views, and Bedouin decor but they're not as exotic. There is an attentive staff, and spectacular vistas of the countryside. A sumptuous buffet dinner, often accompanied by traditional music is offered April through November (and the rest of the year according to demand) for $21 per person. A drawback is the taxi ride from the hills down to Petra.
