A friendly Florentine family runs this 18th-century Franciscan-monastery-turned-countryside-inn on the lower slopes of the Apennines northeast of the city. The highlight is the public areas -- arcaded salons with overstuffed sofas, a panoramic terrace with a view stretching all the way down to Prato, a beautifully landscaped pool with a view, and an extremely intimate restaurant in the former monks' cells on the first floor. Each cell has just a few tables, or you can dine like the frate did in the tiny old refectory.
