Frommer's Review
Meals at Hacienda San Angel were so popular with its guests, the owner decided to share the experience with other visitors to Puerto Vallarta as well. In addition to experiencing the exquisite beauty of the Hacienda itself, diners are treated to one of the most stunning views of town, overlooking the night lights of the city to the bay beyond. The very limited seating each night -- by prior reservation only -- is on the upper terrace of the Hacienda, near its main rooftop pool. Tables are elegantly set with linens and antique silverware. The menu changes periodically, but features classic Mexican fare, along with international favorites. Starters include crispy fried calamari with a selection of sauces, grilled seasonal vegetables in a tomato, olive oil, and basil balsamic vinaigrette, or a seafood soup flavored with mescal and thyme. The house specialty is the grilled Cabreria, a tender bone-in steak, served with black beans, garlic-stuffed portobello mushroom, and a three-chile sauce. Other standouts include their chicken mole, and the herb-encrusted rack of lamb in a green-pepper sauce. They offer full bar service, and an ample selection of wines to accompany your meal. Service is understated and attentive. Start the evening by arriving at 6pm for a cocktail hour with live music -- you may also enjoy strolling the grounds of the Hacienda.
