Frommer's Review
Stunning architecture and vibrant colors are the hallmark of this award-winning property, considered Puerto Vallarta's finest. Although the grounds are large -- over 8 hectares (20 acres) with 260m (853 ft.) of beachfront -- the warm service and gracious hospitality create the feeling of an intimate resort. Hundreds of tall palms surround the spectacular central freeform pool. You'll find hammocks strung between the palms closest to the beach, where there are also private beach cabañas. Rooms are contemporary in style, with oversize wood furnishings, tile floors, original art, and tub/shower combinations. Balconies have panoramic views. Eight junior suites and some double rooms have Jacuzzis, and the five grand suites and presidential suite are two-level, with ample living areas. Two floors of rooms make up the Royal Beach Club, with VIP services, including private concierge. The fitness center is one of the most modern, well-equipped facilities in Vallarta, with regularly scheduled spinning and yoga classes. Nikki Beach (www.nikkibeach.com), a renowned haven for the hip, opened an on-site, beachfront restaurant and club in 2004, complete with big, white bed-size lounges for taking in the sun, or enjoying libations anytime from noon until the early morning hours. Their Sunday champagne brunch is especially popular.
