Frommer's Review

You couldn't ask for a better location to be close to all that Vallarta's vibrant centro has to offer. Located on a wide swathe of golden sand beach -- and just a few blocks north of the start of the malecón -- the Premiere is easy walking distance or a quick taxi ride to the downtown restaurants, shops, galleries, and clubs. One of the newer hotels in Vallarta (opened 1999), the architecture is contemporary, but its size gives it an intimate feel. With a first-rate spa and a policy that restricts guests to ages 16 and older, it's a place that caters to relaxation. Four types of rooms are available, but all are decorated in warm colors with tile floors and light wood furnishings. Deluxe rooms have ocean views, a respectable seating area with comfortable chairs, plus a sizable private balcony -- request one of several that has an outdoor whirlpool. There are also seven suites that have a separate living room plus a dining area with private bar, and a spacious terrace. These rooms also have a double whirlpool tub, and separate glass-enclosed shower. The top-of-the-line master suites have all that the above suites offer, plus an outdoor whirlpool on the spacious balcony. The stunning bi-level spa is the real attraction of this hotel -- scented with aromatherapy and glowing with candlelight, it uses top-notch, 100% natural products, most based on Mexico's natural treasures like coconut, aloe, and papaya. If you're not tempted by the nearby and accessible dining choices in downtown Vallarta, the Premiere also offers an all-inclusive option, with all meals and drinks included.

Facilities:
3 restaurants; 2 outdoor pools; fitness center; full spa; travel agency; salon; room service; laundry service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
