Tourandino also offers climbs to the area's high summits. Another experienced outfit, Alto Andino (tel. 9/282-6195; www.birdingaltoandino.com), run by U.S. naturalist Barbara Knapton, focuses on wildlife, with programs in the altiplano and also along the coast.
