Planning a Trip

Getting There

Slow trains (Les Corails) from Paris's Montparnasse station take 6 hours. Speedy TGVs take only 4 1/2 hours from Paris. By all means, skip the slow train and opt for the TGV; the one-way fare is 86€ ($125). For information, call tel. 36-35 or 08-92-35-35-35. If you're driving, the best route is from Rennes: Take E50/N12 west to just outside the town of Montauban, continue west along N164 to Châteaulin, and head south along N165 to Quimper.

Visitor Information

The Office de Tourisme is on place de la Résistance (tel. 02-98-53-04-05; www.quimper-tourisme.com).

Special Events

For 8 days in mid- to late July, the Festival de Cornouaille adds a traditional flavor to the nightlife scene with Celtic and Breton concerts throughout the city. For information, contact the Office de Tourisme.
