Emerald Lake Trail: Hike less than 4 miles round-trip and you can see three pretty lakes and the surrounding mountains and walk through a forest of limber and lodgepole pines and fir trees that has meadows of wildflowers in summer. Rated easy to moderate.
Ouzel Falls Trail: One of the most picturesque waterfalls in a park that has many picturesque waterfalls, Ouzel Falls is also a good spot to see the water ouzel (also known as the American dipper), a bird that collects its dinner by darting into the water. About 5.5 miles round-trip, this moderate hike passes several other falls and crosses a creek along the way.
The Loch Trail: Alternating between forests and open slopes, this 5.4-mile round-trip moderately rated hike offers good close-up views of wildflowers, as well as panoramic views of nearby peaks, glaciers, and the dramatic three-tiered Timberline Falls.
Lake Haiyaha Trail: Perhaps this should be called Many Lakes Trail, since not only do you see Lake Haiyaha (hi-yah-hah), but this 4.2-mile round-trip moderate hike also offers views of Dream, Nymph, Bear, Mills, and Sprague lakes, plus a pond or two. The views of Longs Peak are also pretty spectacular.
