The Best RV Parks

Spruce Lake RV Park (Estes Park; tel. 800/536-1050): It's hard to call this camping -- it's simply too refined. Open to RVs only (no ground tents), the carpeted bathhouses are among the cleanest and most luxurious we've seen anywhere, and with a stocked private fishing lake, miniature golf, and weekly ice-cream socials, it may be hard to find time for exploring the national park.

Elk Creek Campground and RV Park (Grand Lake; tel. 800/355-2733): Close to the national park's west entrance, this commercial campground has tree-shaded, well-spaced sites that give it the feel of a national park or forest service campground, while also providing complete RV hookups and hot showers that will help you get a good night's sleep at the end of a busy day of hiking.
