East-Side Day Hikes

With this area containing roughly two-thirds of the park's hiking trails, it's not surprising that you'll find the greatest variety of terrain here -- both in length and in difficulty level. But it is also the busiest section of the park, and you are less likely to find the hiking solitude you may be seeking. Compared to trails on the west side of the park, trails here offer somewhat more spectacular scenery, with a dramatic snowcapped peak seemingly around every bend, and the terrain is a bit more open.
