Visiting Rocky Mountain National Park with your children can be an especially rewarding experience, and it is an excellent way for everyone -- children and adults alike -- to learn about the park's geology, plants, and wildlife, as well as to appreciate the unequaled beauty of nature.

Park rangers present a number of special programs for children, aimed at helping them learn about the park's wildlife and other natural features. Kids can obtain a Junior Ranger guide, a logbook, and other materials from visitor centers, and then complete various activities to become junior rangers.

Parents should keep in mind that there are no grocery stores inside the park, so it's a good idea to carry a good supply of items such as baby food and disposable diapers. Most of these items can be purchased in Estes Park and Grand Lake, although facilities in Grand Lake are more limited. It's also important to carry any prescription drugs your family might need, and to make sure you have the phone numbers of your doctor and pharmacist.
