Frommer's Review
The first mile of this hike is along the trail to Dream Lake, but just before you reach Dream Lake, the Lake Haiyaha trail takes a left, crossing Tyndall Creek. As you head up the trail, look to your right for a pretty view of Dream Lake, and notice, if there are other hikers there, how well voices carry in these natural amphitheaters. As the trail winds up and around, different vistas open up. At one point, you will have a distant view of Estes Park, then Nymph and Bear lakes appear in the valleys below, and even Sprague Lake can be glimpsed farther down Bear Lake Road. To the southeast are grand views of Longs Peak soaring above Mills Lake. Shortly before reaching Lake Haiyaha, the trail to The Loch and Mills Lake takes off southward. Next you will pass a lovely little pond with boulders dotted along its shores. There is a hint of a trail ahead, which becomes ever more rocky, until finally you reach Lake Haiyaha, resting serenely in a huge bed of boulders. Those who don't mind scrambling over the rocks to the opposite side of the lake will be rewarded with a neatly framed view of Longs Peak. The initial elevation is 9,480 feet, and the elevation gain is 745 feet.
