Frommer's Review
Most of this trail seems to go straight up, and you'll be utilizing numerous switchbacks as you cross the park boundary. About 2.2 miles from the trail head, you'll come out onto a ridge north of the summit. Lookout Springs is about .25 miles east of the trail, but because the water here is questionable, it's best to carry your own. The trail becomes rockier and even steeper as you approach the timberline, so take a breather and admire the panoramic peaks to the west. The early-morning sun, for those who started well before sunrise, defines the peaks clearly and dramatically against the sky.
Directly across the valley is the impressive East Face of Longs Peak. On top, the views are fantastic in all directions. Camping is not permitted on Twin Sisters, but for those with sufficient stamina, an evening hike by moonlight can be memorable. A fire lookout tower was removed from Twin Sisters in 1977 after it was deemed ineffective, and there is now a radio antenna atop the peak. The trail starts at an elevation of 9,045 feet and climbs 2,388 feet.
