Review of Coyote Valley Nature TrailThis wheelchair- and stroller-accessible trail is a delight, with numerous benches and interpretive signs scattered along the path. The trail parallels the Colorado River as it wends its way through the Kawuneeche Valley. Prior to the establishment of Rocky Mountain National Park, researchers discovered that the Arapaho had named this valley kawuneeche, meaning "valley of the coyotes." You can occasionally spot the doglike animal slipping through the meadows seeking rodents and other prey. Many of the plants the Arapaho used for food and medicine can still be found in this valley, and so can the lodgepole pines they used for teepee poles. As you walk the trail, look at the Grand Ditch on the east-facing slopes of the Never Summer Mountains. The end of the trail loops through a stand of lodgepole pines. The elevation is 8,770 feet. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
