A 4-hour tour of the city and Mormon Trail costs $35, and a 4 hour tour to the mine, which includes a stop at the beach on the Great Salt Lake, is $46. A 6-hour tour of the city and the Great Salt Lake costs $59, and a 5-hour tour to Park City and through the nearby mountains costs $57.

Salt Lake City-based AdventureBus, 21 E. Kelsey Ave. (tel. 888/737-5263; www.adventurebus.com), hosts group trips throughout the Southwest and Rocky Mountains, with an emphasis on national parks and mountain-biking meccas. The cost runs about $120 a day, food included, with accommodations at campgrounds and inside their clean and sharply outfitted buses with couches that convert into beds.
