Frommer's Review
Among Utah's finest restaurants, The New Yorker is quiet sophistication, with rich woods, understated elegance, excellent food, and impeccable service. Technically a private club, you'll have to buy a membership to enter ($5), but trust us -- it's worth it. The New Yorker offers complete liquor service -- unlike many Utah restaurants, you can buy a drink here without ordering any food.
From the dining room dinner menu, choose the Maryland crab cakes, which are as good as -- or better than -- those you'll find anywhere; the certified Angus beef filet mignon with cabernet sauce and blue cheese; or the roasted rack of American lamb. Lunch brings dishes such as deep-fried Gulf white shrimp, served with fries, coleslaw, and cocktail sauce; veal schnitzel with green peppercorns and lemon butter sauce; or sandwiches and salads. In the less formal cafe, you'll find scaled-down fare, such as a bacon-and-avocado burger, fried camembert and pear with red pepper jelly, and an excellent cobb salad.
