Tuscany ReviewLocated in a quaintly elegant setting at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains and owned by the 7[pr]4[dp] Utah Jazz shot-blocking legend Mark Eaton, Tuscany resembles an Italian mountain lodge, with massive beams, cathedral ceilings, an extensive use of rock, old-world murals, stained glass, and four enormous fireplaces. The Northern Italian cuisine has been tempered with Western influences, resulting in delicious dishes such as a hardwood-grilled, double-cut pork chop with scallion mashed potatoes, balsamic roasted onions, and pan juices; and a favorite: oven-roasted filet of salmon with pancetta-pesto crust served with toasted vegetable couscous. And be sure to save room for one of the homemade desserts such as rich old-fashioned chocolate cake, or vanilla bean crème brûlée with fresh berries. In summer you can dine alfresco in the lovely garden. Under the same management and likewise highly recommended is the adjacent Franck's, 6263 Holladay Blvd. (tel. 801/274-6264; www.francksfood.com), dishing up ultra-creative American-French fusion dishes and comfort food ranging from meatloaf to foie gras.
