The Mercure is one of two new hotels in Rio Vermelho. It's located right on the water and just next door to the Pestana. This hotel is an excellent option for those who want more comfort and a higher standard of service and amenities than a budget hotel would provide, without going high-end. All 175 rooms have a modern and clean look with tile floors, oak-colored furniture and red or blue accents. The rooms are spacious and come with a desk, two phone lines, and free high-speed Internet. The superior rooms face the city and the adjacent Ibis hotel; the deluxe rooms look out over the swimming pool and ocean. As the price difference between the two is minimal, it's worth reserving a room with a view. Breakfast costs an extra R$19 (US$7.95).
