Much loved by locals, the Teatro Vila Velha has played an important role in the cultural life of Salvador. Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Maria Bethania, and Gilberto Gil all performed here in the early days of their careers. These days, it's home to two theater companies and one modern dance company -- Viladança. For performances or other events such as MPB, choro, or pagode concerts, check the schedule. Tickets are inexpensive.
