The venue of this well-known restaurant is modern, warmly decorated, and airy, with the enviable bonus of being perched atop the former stronghold of the prince-archbishops of Salzburg, atop a huge rocky spur about 122m (400 ft.) above the Old Town and the Salzach River. From its evenly spaced windows, you'll have a sweeping view over the city and the surrounding countryside. The kitchen offers fish, well-prepared beef, pork, lamb, and such old-fashioned and traditional dishes as a Salzburger bauernschmaus (a bubbling stewpot of veal, pork, sausage, and dumplings), Salzburger schnitzels, Salzburger Grüstl (a form of beef hash with potatoes and onions), and käse Spätzle (spätzle with cheese). There's also wild game dishes served in season. One of the rooms within this restaurant complex, the Fürstenzimmer, offers occasional concerts, often featuring the works of Mozart, for 20€ to 25€ ($24-$30) per ticket.
