Roland Kübler has maintained this stylish, unusual cocktail bar since the mid-1970s. In the process, he's entertained some of the biggest names of the Salzburg festival and nurtured an arts-conscious crowd ranging from 25 to 75. The bar is set within an old salt storage cellar with a vaulted ceiling that allows natural illumination. You can always order a martini, but the large majority of drinkers here opt for glasses of Austrian wine. Priced at 2€ to 3.70€ ($2.60-$4.80), they include many vintages of Styrian chardonnays and sauvignons. There's also Beck's beer selling for 2.20€ ($2.85) and a limited menu of "toasts" (warm sandwiches) and antipasti, priced at 2.80€ to 6.80€ ($3.65-$8.85) per platter, which includes spaghetti carbonara and goulash soup. It's open daily 7pm to at least 4am and usually later, depending on business.
