Corvette Diner ReviewThis family-friendly time warp serves burgers, sandwiches, appetizer munchies, blue-plate specials, and salads, along with a very full page of fountain favorites; beer, wine, and cocktails are also available. In 2009, after 22 years in Hillcrest, Corvette Diner relocated to Liberty Station, the massive redevelopment project that was once the U.S. Naval Training Center in Point Loma. The new spot is twice the size of the original and is set in what was once the NTC officers' club. There are themed rooms (the Corvette Room, the '70s Blacklight Room, and the Diner Car); an arcade with everything from air hockey to Guitar Hero; and a huge parking lot (a big improvement over parking-challenged Hillcrest). What hasn't changed are the sassy, dancing waitstaff and the loud, vintage rock 'n' roll. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
