Frommer's Review
While almost every new hotel in San Diego caters to those with fat wallets, there are exceptions. For instance, take the Hotel Occidental, which opened in late 2005. Located in Bankers Hill and conveniently situated between Hillcrest and downtown, the Hotel Occidental is also just a block from Balboa Park. Built as a Knights of Columbus meeting place in 1923, the attractive Mission-style architecture has been restored to its original glory, and the hotel features kitchenettes in all rooms, free wireless Internet, free bicycle rental, and a daily continental breakfast. Rooms are available with both shared and private bathrooms. Other nice touches include a business center, laundry service, a garden patio, and an online grocery shopping service.
Facilities:
Free bike rental; business center; online grocery shopping; coin-op laundry; valet dry cleaning; garden patio; free Wi-Fi
