San Gimignano's modest Etruscan collection proves the town's roots run deeper than the Middle Ages. Atop one of the funerary urns, a reclining figure representing the deceased is holding the cup of life -- now empty of all but a single coin to pay his way into the afterlife. This museum is now installed in the 1253 pharmacy branch of the medieval Santa Fina hospital (though the painted druggery vases and other accouterments on display are largely 15th-18th c.). There's also a small modern art gallery here.
