Even better than holing up in these cavernous 18th-century former stalls, with their worn terra-cotta bricks cross-vaulting the ceiling, is booking a table on the wall-top panoramic terrace in summer. Inside, the bench-lined tables get crowded even in winter, as locals, tourists, and families show up for the simple home cooking at reasonable prices. The satisfying ribollita comes with sliced pungent red onion on the side, and the tagliatelle al cinghiale (noodles with wild boar) is delicious. The house specialty is cinghiale alla vernaccia (chunks of tender wild boar marinated in vernaccia white wine and served with green sauce and black olives), or you can try cervo in bianco (venison in white-wine sauce). They also rent out two simple double rooms, with bathroom, for 49€ ($64).
