Frommer's Review
This is an osteria true to its name, a small gathering place offering ultratraditional dishes to accompany its well-priced selection of local wines. The decor can only be described as minimalist medieval, with contemporary paintings and modern lighting in concert with an abbreviated barrel vault made of hand-cast bricks. A great appetizer to pair with your Vernaccia is the piatto misto di prosciutto (with both pig and boar ham) along with formaggi Toscani (Tuscan cheeses). The ribollita adds a purée of cannellini beans to the usual mix, and the penne al porro (stubby pasta quills in cheesy cream sauce) and pipe coi broccoli (maccheroni with broccoli-based vegetable purée cut with onions) are eminent pasta choices. If you're still hungry, try the Tuscan standbys salsicce con fagioli all'uccelletto (grilled sausage with beans stewed with tomatoes) and stracotto al chianti (beef muscle cooked in chianti wine).
