Frommer's Review
Owned and run by the Gigli family since 1886, the Bel Soggiorno rooms provide views of the countryside below (three share a panoramic terrace) or of the ultramedieval, if souvenir-ridden, main street in town. The modern, medium-size accommodations are mostly fitted with cheap, functional furniture and beds verging on the over-soft. Little of the original 13th-century structure shows through, and its general lack of antique charm makes it the least desirable of the hotels within the walls. But the friendly family management and highly recommendable restaurant, serving Tuscan fare in a half-medieval, half-plate-glass panoramic environment, keep the Bel Soggiorno in the running. Many of the amenities, such as a swimming pool, are available at their countryside sister hotel, Pescille, 4km (2 1/2 miles) from town.
Facilities:
Restaurant; pool (at Pescille); tennis (at Pescille); Jacuzzi (at Pescille); concierge; car-rental desk; laundry service; dry cleaning
