Hotel Leon Bianco Review

Typical of a 500-year-old building turned hotel, the rooms here can't seem to agree on a style or decor scheme, but most retain some element from the 14th-century palazzo -- a painted wood-beam ceiling here, an old stone wall in a bathroom there, or a brick barrel vault filling one room. Accommodations overlook the pretty well of the tower-lined piazza out front or across a garden next door and rooftops to a glimpse of the countryside. (A few, however, overlook the partially glassed-in courtyard of the lobby.) "Superior" rooms are merely larger and come with minibars. The rooms are smaller and less well appointed and posh than those at La Cisterna Hotel or the Antico Pozzo, but this place has more vestigial Renaissance charm than the Bel Soggiorno, plus the most central location in town.

Facilities:
Bar; exercise room; Jacuzzi; room service; Wi-Fi

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
