A back-to-nature theme prevails at this beachside inn, in both the room decor and the grounds planted with native Florida foliage specifically designed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. In fact, back-to-nature children's programs make this a great choice for eco-friendly families. Kids can go on shell safaris, nature walks, and dolphin watches. The hotel rooms and fully equipped two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium apartments (the latter are some of Sanibel's most luxurious) have been renovated to look like a modern -- but warm -- beach house with bamboo floors, wicker furnishing, and great lighting. All units have screened porches to keep the relentless mosquitoes out. The award-winning Ellington's Jazz Bar and Restaurant offers seafood, steaks, pasta, and live music.
