Introduction to San Rafael

234km (145 miles) S of Mendoza

Sleepy and rural, San Rafael is a mini-Mendoza minus the hipsters. The main daily activities here include working in a winery, eating ice cream, and riding a bicycle. It's definitely off the beaten track; very, very few people coming to Mendoza actually make the journey. You'll need a car and a spirit of adventure to explore the area.
