This elegant 19th-century building provides the perfect backdrop for any performance, be it ballet, concert, or opera. São Paulo's opera company, ballet company, and symphonic orchestra all perform here regularly (although the last one seems to prefer the Julio Prestes's Sala São Paulo these days). So popular is the theater that it's in use by different companies and ensembles every night and many days of the week. Check the listings for lunchtime concerts, the perfect way to break up a day sightseeing or shopping.
