Nightlife

Tuxedoed croupiers provide blackjack and roulette at Holland Casino Scheveningen, Kurhausweg 1 (tel. 070/306-7777; www.hollandcasino.com; tram: 1 or 9), across from the restored 19th-century Kurhaus Hotel. There's also punto banco, slot machines, and more. The dress code here is "correct" (collar and tie for men), and the minimum age is 18. You need your passport to get in. The casino is open daily (except May 4 and Dec 31) from 12:30pm to 3am. Admission is 5€ ($8); Wednesday is "ladies day," and admission is free for all females.

Look for nightclubs at Gevers Deynootplein in front of the Kurhaus, and for theater productions at the Circustheater, which may include opera, ballet, and musical theater.

If it can be played on a piano, you might hear it at Crazy Pianos, Strandweg 21-29 (tel. 070/322-7525; www.crazypianos.com), whose gaudy neon signs attract revelers along the waterfront. The formula, which includes eating, drinking, and dancing, appeals to patrons of all ages.
