Another atrium-concept hotel similar to neighboring properties Marina Mandarin and the Pan Pacific, The Oriental is one notch above the others. Public spaces are quiet, with subdued lighting, the lobby adorned with polished black marble, leather seating, and Asian decorative arts and accents. A recent renovation has introduced a sophisticated contemporary Asian look to rooms, with plush carpeting and shimmering throw silk pillows and bed runners. Pay more for rooms with a view of the city's skyline through each room's floor-to-ceiling windows -- it's worth it. Also worth it, the Oriental Spa drips with a studied sense of Asian serenity, through quiet spaces graced with Chinese antiques and a spa menu that focuses on Asian beauty and relaxation techniques. The staff is always available but never in your face. The Oriental also benefits from the adjacent Marina Square Shopping Center, which adds scores of shops, services, restaurants, and entertainment options.
